Testosterone is a hormone that stimulates development of male reproductive characteristics. However, it is produced by both men and women.
-
Common symptoms of low testosterone in men include: loss in muscle mass and strength, irritability, low sex drive, erectile dysfunction, low sperm count, sleep problems such as insomnia, depression, bone loss, trouble concentrating and more.
Certain medications, health conditions, and injuries decrease the body’s testosterone level. Testosterone also naturally drops with age.
-
Testosterone replacement therapy is a hormone replacement treatment that increases low testosterone levels in males. Testosterone is replaced using injected testosterone.
-
A Testosterone Consult discusses hormone levels and treatment options for low testosterone. This appointment would not address other concerns you may have, or other possible causes of health concerns. (Our New Patient appointment covers a broad variety of symptoms, including hormones, if there are concerns that may go beyond hormones.)
TRT Consultation fee covers your 30 minute visit to go over medical history and discuss hormone related issues, as well as what Testosterone Replacement Therapy entails. Lab tests may be drawn at this appointment. Laboratory testing will be a separate fee that has the potential of being covered by your insurance, should your plan cover these tests.
If lab results show testosterone levels are very low, some insurances may cover TRT treatment. If not covered by insurance, testosterone and accompanying supplies can be purchased out of pocket from your local pharmacy, or patients may choose a TRT Membership. This TRT Membership is available at our North Aurora location, and includes all follow up visits, testosterone monitoring lab tests, Testosterone, and accompanying supplies for a monthly fee.
If lab results show injected testosterone is not in a patient’s best interest, other suggestions for possible topical testosterone application, as well as diet, lifestyle, and supplements may be recommended in a follow up appointment.
Payment is due at time of visit, and all major credit cards, health savings and flex cards, as well as cash or check are accepted. We do not bill our services through insurance, but offer SuperBills that can be submitted to insurance for possible reimbursement if desired.
While on TRT, a follow up visit is needed every 3 months to monitor testosterone levels, overall health, and symptom improvement. Labs are to be redrawn prior to this visit if needed.
